Wow! It’s been a hot minute since my last blog post, and I know a lot of you are new here, so WELCOME!!! Whether you are a customer, another boutique owner, or simply a passerby, I wanted to explain a little behind the scenes of what makes this jig go ‘round! It may not be easy, but it’s ALWAYS worth it! ❤️

  1. Trying to please everyone. While we know it’s impossible, you can’t help but to want to try to. Especially in a small town, you just want to be exactly what they need no matter what those needs are. It’s impossible.
  2. Hanging on during the highs and lows. As I’m sure you know, retail is highly seasonal, and even day by day weather based, and especially in Iowa, we all know what a rollercoaster that is😳 — the thing you might not realize is the effort we have to give to not take it personally. Often times you find yourself questioning, why didn’t they like my new arrivals this week? Did I do something wrong? What do I need to do differently? The list goes on and on…
  3. Choosing quality over quantity. It’s a hard choice to make, and I don’t mean in quality or quantity of clothes, I’m talking about relationships. Like the real kind. It’s easy to shop on Amazon, get the best price imaginable, and become just another “boutique”, but I consciously made the decision that to grow a #beautifullyconfident community in the way I can imagine it in my head, is to take focus off of “just a sale”, and look at the person making the purchase. THEY are what matters, YOU are what matters most to me. When I get to style one of you, either online or in-person, I selfishly have the best day! It’s truly what my passion is.
  4. TRUST. This one is first and foremost one of the most challenging parts of the job. Of course I know what I’m doing is in the best interest of my customers/friends/family, but how do you? I’ll explain it like this: Everyday I’m striving to even reach just one of you, begging you to re-look in the mirror, and love yourself just as you are. Well that’s an odd goal for a clothing boutique, you might be saying to yourself. I will respond with telling you my passion comes from an extremely personal place, that girl was once me. Now don’t get me wrong, that younger me still creeps in sometimes and tries to win, but with each passing day/month/year, that self-conscious girl gets further and further in my past. And I want to see the exact same thing for you.

I’m so, SO happy you’re here & truly believe there’s a reason you found @socialhourstyle
